Gastroscopy: How is FGDS and preparation for the procedure

Fibrogastroduodenoscopy (FGDS) is the most informative method for diagnosing diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract.

Preparation for gastroscopy:
– Do not eat 8-12 hours before the procedure
– Do not smoke or chew gum
– remove dentures
– report allergies and medications

With the help of FGDS you can detect gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, polyps, tumors of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. If necessary, a biopsy is performed.
